Inspiration: Landscaping

This is the "Europa City"designed by BIG. Although this is not a finished project, I take inspiration in the way the designers have used the environment with respect to landscape. Being that my massing still has a bulky ramp, I see it becoming a part of the landscape in my site. The way I see my ramp visually at the moment is its curvature playing with green land and protruding from the ground; which is the next step.

First Floor Plan: Revision

This is my revision of my first floor plan in the place of my previous location for the restrooms I have extended the art gallery throughout  the lobby. This is because the restrooms were far from the main entrance and one would need to travel to the far of the building to reach the facilities. Since the lobby extends all the way through I decided to add an exit way on its end so that it does not feel like a dead end.

Lastly the gift shop space has also turned into a cafe which would help gather attention of people passing by, and would probably lead them into the interior spaces.

Second Floor: Reworking Classrooms

This is the revision of my second floor plan. I have reworked the classrooms with the help of Professor Jill and placed them according to the natural lighting they can receive. Previously the restrooms were located in an area which could be used for better space options such as a workshop or studio. The shaded grey area by the elevator banks is the the newly placed restrooms.

3d Floor Plans & Sections: Progress

The image above shows how I have laid out my floor plans so far; showed in detail from my previous post.
The most important element in a building is for spaces to work. As you can see, I have worked on the circulation of my massing and accessible spaces. Accessible spaces include commuting in and out of the building via stairs, elevators, and passageways.

The passageway you see here is actually a connection from one side of the building (ramp) to the other. One does not have to actually go through the building to walk across the ramp. This technique to me is inviting to the spaces inside.

Next you will see the correlation of the building to the landscaping and further developed floor plans.
